INFO:
Metalworkers in western Ukraine have been building “Mad Max”-style combat buggies for use on the war’s front lines. Led by Volodymyr Sadyk, the team of mechanics salvages car engines and welds the frames for the buggies using skills learned from watching YouTube videos. The buggies are mainly used to ferry casualties from difficult-to-reach frontline positions, but they are also used in combat with mounted machine guns and grenade launchers. Each buggy takes one week to make and costs at least $6,500, all of which comes from donations. So far, Sadyk and his team have made more than 80 vehicles for use mostly in the country’s eastern Donbas region. Video by Finbarr O’Reilly and Rebecca Suner
